As the most powerful class, Magicians rule Azaria, but their grip on the kingdom is tenuous. Rumours abound that the Enchanters are plotting a nefarious scheme.
Thus the Magicians send one of their best to infiltrate the Enchanters and uncover their plans before they are set in motion.

Ever since the restoration of magic, Magicians and Enchanters have been in an uneasy alliance. The Magicians’ power maintains peace, while the Enchanters’ potions prevent magic’s dangerous side effects.
But the Enchanters have become increasingly evasive, and the High Magician suspects foul play. Thus eighteen-year-old Jessie Balthanders, a Magician prodigy, is recruited to investigate. If she can expose their possible treason, she'll be hailed a hero.
She finds herself apprenticed to Lahara Redford, a powerful but jaded Enchanter who deeply mistrusts Magicians. With tensions running high, the two must learn to work together as they are dragged into a dark conspiracy.
But Jessie needs to find answers soon, and if Lahara discovers her true nature, she’ll have far more than the High Magician's wrath to fear.
The cost of success, however, may be far greater than failure.
Outcast and alone, Jessie must face the consequences of her terrible mistake, else Azaria will burn to ashes.
Now a pariah amongst her own kind, Jessie is on the run. She's chasing a starcloud-crazed Lahara, but the former Enchanter wants nothing to do with the Magician who betrayed her. Jessie's act of defiance has also granted her power beyond imagination; one the Magician Senate wants to claim as their own.
Yet her newfound abilities aren't without price. The dreaded Sorceror Sickness could overwhelm her at any moment, and she'll need all her wits to stop Lahara's rampage and evade the Talons out to capture them.
Forced to trust those she once scorned and with the help of new allies, Jessie must find a way to redeem herself and bring magic back to normal.

Lahara has been freed from the deadly starcloud, but it has left magic more fractured than ever. The Enchanters have lost their powers, and with no means to maintain the elixir supply, the Sorceror Sickness threatens to decimate all mages.
Yet Lahara wants nothing more to do with the mess of Jessie’s own making. Try as she might, she can’t bring herself to walk away, and when the threads of her grandfather's lost trail are dangled in front of her, she has no choice but to chase his shadow.
Meanwhile, the High Magician will not rest until her vision of Magician supremacy is realised. With the Talons at her heels and Jessie stuck at her side, Lahara must confront her inner demons and realise what she truly desires.
